A 6.5 magnitude quake struck Indonesia's islands of Maluku killing at least 30 people and injuring over 150. Hundreds of thousands of people were evacuated to sheltered accommodation.
The magnitude 6.5 quake was centred 33 kilometres northeast of Ambon at a depth of 18 kilometres, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Hundreds of houses, roads, public facilities, including the main bridge in the city of Ambon have been damaged. The quake destroyed buildings and triggered landslides in the eastern part of Ambon island.
Authorities have ruled out the possibility of a tsunami, although thousands of people living near the ocean had already evacuated.
