Heavy rains in the southern and western departments of Choluteca, in southern Honduras have caused flooding, reports say at least two people are confirmed dead with over 250 people being displaced.
The departments of Valle, Lempira, La Paz, Intibucá, Santa Bárbara, Copán and Ocotepeque are also affected by the flooding with alerts raised for further heavy rains.
The National Permanent Commission of Emergencies (COPECO) first reported the overflowing of rivers on 10 June when 68mm of rain fell in just 6 hours. 100 houses were damaged with 10 being totally destroyed affecting 554 people in total.
Affected people were evacuated and housed in churches and other local buildings. COPECO continues to deliver humanitarian aid.
