As of late July 2025, Himachal Pradesh is facing severe monsoon-related disasters, with flash floods and landslides causing significant damage across multiple districts.
Over 200 roads, including the Chandigarh–Manali highway, have been blocked by landslides, and key infrastructure such as power transformers and water supply systems has been heavily disrupted.
Mandi district is the worst affected, with 45 fatalities. The overall death toll stands at approximately 170, including 94 directly linked to weather-related incidents.
The India Meteorological Department has issued orange alerts for Mandi, Kullu, and Kangra, and yellow alerts for Shimla, Chamba, and Sirmaur. Rainfall is expected to ease after beginning of August. Relief operations by NDRF and SDRF are ongoing.
