Heavy rains in Indonesia have caused flash flooding in South Sulawesi province when three rivers overflowed. 21 people have died, and more than 5000 have been affected.
The Masamba, Rongkong and Mely Rivers all overflowed. Flood waters and mud have affected six districts in the province, and mud is reported to have covered hundreds of homes. Mud is reported to be as high as five meters in some areas.
The mud is also blocking roads, making search and rescue operations harder and cutting off access to the villages of Masamba and Radda.
In addition to the flood disaster, Indonesia is also affected by the Coronavirus, and has a growing number of cases, further impacting evacuation efforts.
